680,000 (ABS, 2011) Australian women aged 45 and over, who are single and do not or will not own their own home by retirement are, or are at risk of homelessness, something social researchers have labelled  as the “hidden, underrepresented and the new face of homelessness”   O.W.L’s is an organisation established in 2015 by Penny Leemhuis as a not for profit systemic advocacy effort,  O.W.L’s works towards raising awareness, fighting stigma and creating change with the understanding that health and wellbeing are founded in access to secure, affordable, accessible housing.

Argyle is proud to be supporting O.W.L’s with its event in October 2017.  The event will launch a documentary on the housing crisis for O.W.L’s and will be followed by a unique workshop focusing on 3 key solutions.  The event is being held at the Legislative Assembly Reception Room Canberra on Friday 20th October from 2:30pm – 4:30pm.  Adrienne Frances ABC journalists will MC the event. Dr Andrea Sharam social researcher will be the keynote speaker.  Key stakeholders from a range of MLA’s, housing and social service organisations, businesses and the philanthropic section have been invited to attend.

Our CEO Wendy and a n umber of our Argyle Team have volunteered their time to be at the event to act as facilitators during the workshop and provide administrative support for the event.
