The Affordable Housing scheme provides Australians on low to moderate incomes with an opportunity to rent homes at a rate that is below market value rent. Affordable Housing homes are not social housing – they are affordable private rental homes. Eligibility is strictly income dependent. The total income of the all tenants of an Affordable Housing rental property is used to calculate the overall household income for that property.
You may be eligible if you can prove that your annual household income was less than the limits below over the past 12 months. The weekly cost of rent does not exceed more than 30% of your weekly household income.
Maximum combined income allowable for a household to be eligible:
3 adults – $121,900
4 adults – $152,400
Sole parent + 2 children – $97,500
Sole parent + 3 children – $115,800
Sole parent + 4 children – $134,100
Couple with 2 children – $128,000
Couple with 3 children – $146,300
Couple with 4 children – $164,600

These supporting documents include proof of income for all household members over the past 12 months, proof of identity via photo ID license or passport, 12 months’ worth of bank statements to prove your current assets and a copy of a Residential Tenancy Agreement or three detailed rent receipts with Landlords full name, address and phone number.
