Our services and efforts span across territories that are home to the Dharawal, Gundungurra, Ngunnawal and Ngambi, Wiradjuri, and Waveroo peoples. We recognise them as the original custodians and emphasise that this land is, was, and always will be Aboriginal land.
The development of our Innovate: Reconciliation Action Plan is a tangible way for Argyle Housing to take steps towards achieving reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through this plan, which is officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, we have committed to specific actions that will help us advance the five dimensions of reconciliation in alignment with our vision for reconciliation and create meaningful opportunities for First Nations Peoples.
We believe that by being proactive and intentional about our efforts towards reconciliation, we can help achieve greater understanding, respect, and equality within our organisation and the broader community. Further to this it allows us to recognise and build on our current relationships, to further demonstrate our respect for First Nations Peoples, history and culture in all aspects of our business, and to purposely set out an aspirational and innovative framework of measurable goals and achievable actions to guide our journey of reconciliation and recognition.

We are committed to walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to co-design and deliver homes, neighbourhoods, and spaces that reflect cultural values, connection to Country, and community aspirations. Through our work, we aim to create a strong foundation for opportunity by providing culturally safe and appropriate housing and by fostering pathways to employment, education, and wellbeing.
We recognise that reconciliation is a shared journey and a collective responsibility. We honour and celebrate the histories, cultures, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through mutual respect, genuine partnerships, and a commitment to self-determination, we strive to build a more equitable and inclusive housing future for all.
Celebrating Our Reconciliation Journey: 2026–2028
I am proud to continue leading Argyle Housing on our reconciliation journey and to present our 2026–2028 Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. This RAP reflects not only our organisational commitments, but the learning, listening, and relationship-building that have shaped us over the past two years.
Through our ongoing engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, we have gained a deeper understanding of the lived realities faced by many people seeking safe, secure, and stable housing. These relationships have reinforced what we see every day in our work, that housing inequity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples remains a significant and deeply felt issue. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story, and it is these lived experiences that continue to guide our purpose and our actions.
The development of this RAP has been a truly collective effort. Our staff and Board have engaged with openness and care, taking the time to listen, to reflect, and to challenge our own assumptions. This shared approach has strengthened our understanding of the role we play, as individuals and as a community housing provider, in contributing to better housing outcomes and supporting long-term change.
We remain deeply grateful for the guidance we have received from community leaders and cultural advisors throughout our reconciliation journey. Their generosity, wisdom, and willingness to share culture and experience have helped us build stronger relationships and a clearer understanding of our responsibilities. These relationships have grounded our work in respect and reminded us that reconciliation is built on trust, humility, and consistency over time.
As a community housing provider, we carry a responsibility to remove barriers to housing and to ensure our services are culturally informed, accessible, and responsive. This RAP challenges us to continue learning, to be courageous in addressing inequity, and to remain accountable for the commitments we make.
Our reconciliation journey is ongoing.
It asks us to listen more than we speak, to sit with uncomfortable truths, and to act with empathy and integrity. By continuing this shared journey, alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the communities we serve, we commit to being part of a future where everyone has the opportunity to feel safe, secure, and at home.
About our Reconciliation Action Plan Artwork
The artwork featured throughout our Reconciliation Action Plan brochure was designed by Bindi Bindi Art for Argyle Housing.
Chloe Eastwood and Tayla Shearley drew inspiration from our core values, along with our vision of reconciliation. The artwork is titled “Journey” as it tells a story of the importance of inclusion and connection with First Nations culture and the community. It emphasises the journey of coming together, and providing a sense of belonging whilst advocating, supporting, and building better futures for the communities Argyle Housing services.
