In order to promote pool safety and compliance and reduce injury and deaths in backyard pools, a new NSW pool register has been established.

Pool owners are responsible for ensuring they register their pools by visiting www.swimmingpoolregister.nsw.gov.au. If you are unable to access the internet to register your pool you can have this completed by your local council. Your local council may charge you a fee of up to $10.00 to complete this registration on your behalf.

As part of the registration process you will be required to carry out a self-assessment on the safety of your pool in line with pool safety checklists that are available at www.swimmingpoolregister.nsw.gov.au. You will also need to ensure that your pool complies with required standards.

Please note that if you have installed a pool in the backyard of the property you are renting from Argyle Community Housing, even if it is a blow up pool that holds more than 30cm of water, it should be registered with the local council and approved by Argyle. Registering your pool on the new NSW register is an additional requirement. If you do not already have council and Argyle approval to have the pool at the property you should contact us immediately to discuss your responsibilities.
