National Regulation of Community Housing

August 1, 2013

On Monday 1 July a new National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH) commenced on a pilot basis.  Argyle is one of 24 Australian providers asked to participate in the pilot.  The pilot will be run for a six month period to conduct system testing and evaluation of the registration process, to inform any fine tuning of the system before formal commencement for all Australian community housing providers on 1 January 2014.

National Registration of community housing aims to grow the industry and reassure tenants that their housing is secure and well managed.

Argyle is currently registered as a Class 1 provider in NSW and ACT.  Registration currently operates separately for each State of Territory.  This means that Argyle must achieve and maintain registration in both NSW and ACT.  The NRSCH will mean that Argyle will only need to achieve registration once and this will apply nationally.

The pilot is a great opportunity for Argyle to learn about the requirements of the NRSCH on the ground floor.
