Our Work

Griffin Green Affordable Housing

The Griffin Green affordable housing project, a joint initiative between Argyle Housing and Griffith City Council.

The project has now reached a key milestone with its construction phase completed. This significant accomplishment marks the start of the next step in creating much-needed affordable housing solutions for those in need.

The ambitious $12 million project delivered 20 new Affordable Housing units, owned and managed by Argyle Housing. In addition, the project includes plans for the sale of 42 lots of vacant land. Not only will this increase the supply of land opportunities for Griffith residents to acquire properties, but it will also do so in a way which maintains affordability and accessibility.

Griffin Green has been funded by the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund ($6M), Griffith City Council ($3M), and Argyle Housing ($3M).

This project boasts easy access to an array of conveniences including a Community Hub and central green space called Dave Taylor Park. These units are specifically designed to house some of Griffith’s key workers such as teachers, police officers, nurses, paramedics, baristas, emergency services personnel, minimum wage and award-based positions that every community relies upon to function each and every day.

Commitment to Affordable Housing

At Argyle Housing, our commitment extends into every project we undertake, and the Griffin Green Affordable Housing initiative is no exception. Embodying our fervent dedication to inclusivity and sustainability, Griffin Green is more than just a housing development; it is a vital step towards ensuring that secure and affordable housing is not a privilege but a right for all.

Our affordable housing program is tailored to cater to the diverse requirements of individuals and families, providing not only a roof over their heads but also stability and peace of mind. With a focus on energy efficiency, community building, and design excellence, we are proud to contribute to a future where everyone has access to affordable living spaces that are dignified, eco-friendly, and supportive of a thriving community life.

Through Griffin Green, we aim to empower residents with more than just keys to a new home – we offer keys to a brighter, more secure future.

Dave Taylor Park

Residents of Griffin Green can look forward to the inclusive and enriching experience that will be available at the innovative Dave Taylor Park. This exceptional space will include a diverse range of facilities designed for connection, recreation, and the cultural enrichment of the entire community. Here, residents will have access to the green common – a serene gathering place – as well as a dedicated playground and yarning circle, which pays homage to communal storytelling traditions. Furthermore, the park will celebrate local heritage through an indigenous medicinal garden and a unique basketball court, featuring a striking image painted by a local Aboriginal artist.

The inclusion of a community garden and public toilet facilities speaks to our dedication to practical amenities that enhance daily life. With the added advantages of wifi access, along with the Argyle Housing Community Hub poised to offer a spectrum of programs, we strive to foster a sense of belonging and continual learning. This initiative is representative of Argyle Housing’s commitment to building not just homes, but also thriving, empowered communities.

The concept of placemaking underpins every project at Argyle Housing, recognising that our physical environments profoundly influence our community’s well-being. Dave Taylor Park, in its design and offerings, embodies this ethos. It is a sanctuary where residents can come together to forge strong social ties and where communal life is enriched through the shared experiences of play, learning, and relaxation.

By fostering a space that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of the community, we ensure that every individual feels ownership and pride in their surroundings. Moreover, placemaking extends beyond the park; it is a commitment that resonates throughout our housing developments. Our approach is holistic, ensuring residents not only have a place to live but a supportive community that nurtures them. Argyle Housing strives to transform spaces into vibrant places where residents can thrive, highlighting our deep-seated belief that home is not just a physical structure, but a sense of belonging and community that elevates everyone’s quality of life.

New Community Basketball Court

Our Griffin Green project includes green space project – Dave Taylor Park. We’re excited to present our brand new basketball court within the park that we’re building for the community!

This brand new basketball court represents our inaugural collaborative endeavor with the local community. Renowned local Aboriginal artist, Karissa Undy, has contributed a breathtaking artwork for the court, which was expertly brought to life by Blank Walls and Artcourts. Notably, the artwork was further enriched as local community members joined together to imprint their handprints onto the court, imbuing it with a sense of shared ownership and unity.
