A recent ordinary meeting of council saw the endorsement of a draft of the Griffith worker and housing shortage taskforce go up on public exhibition.
The joint initiative of the Griffith Business Chamber and Griffith City Council was formed in late 2023 and also contains representatives from the office of MPs Helen Dalton and Sussan ley.
The taskforce will aim to develop strategies to increase the supply of workers and housing within the Griffith area.
A preliminary focus will be on developing housing strategies to increase the supply of affordable housing, thereby improving the recruitment and retention of workers.
A community forum was held in June scoping the views of stakeholders.
Submissions on the draft can be made in writing addressed to the general manager, Griffith City Council, PO Box 485, GRIFFITH NSW 2680 or online: www.griffith.nsw.gov.au/on-exhibition
Submissions close October 10.
Housing has also been noted as a number one issue for Griffith by all candidates, and is expected to feature as an important topic at the upcoming Meet the Candidates event.
