For the next three months, construction crews will be at Dave Taylor Park conducting earthworks, installing water and sewerage infrastructure, and building a road to connect Snaith Place and Garton Place.

Argyle Housing is currently preparing a development application for the project, which will be submitted to the Western Regional Planning Panel for assessment.

Griffith mayor John Dal Broi described the ongoing civil works as the first step in delivering the project.

“Last year we secured $6 million in funding from the Federal Government, with council and Argyle Housing each contributing $3 million to fund this project which will see a massive boost for affordable housing in Griffith,” Councillor Dal Broi said.

“We recognise the importance of an inclusive space and look forward to continuing to work with the community to deliver a space residents – old and new – can be proud of.”

Last month, Argyle Housing hosted community consultation sessions in the park, offering Pioneer residents a chance to state what community facilities they’d like to see come from the redevelopment.

Council is currently calling for expressions of interest to build the 20 townhouses and community hub building on behalf of Argyle Housing.
