The new Yass Office is located within the Rae Burgess Centre (CWA Rooms) Banjo Patterson Park, Meehan Street in Yass.  We will be open Tuesdays through to Fridays operating from 9am-5pm.  We are sharing this space with Anglicare three days per week.  Anglicare provide outreach and transitional support to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in the local and surrounding areas.  Anglicare also has nomination rights to two Argyle transitional properties in Yass for their clients who require support to sustain their tenancies.

Approximately 25 people attended the official opening of the Yass Argyle Office on 18 August 2015.  This included 10 Argyle tenants and a mix of workers representing local agencies in the Yass region:  these included Ngunnawal Aboriginal Corporation, Yass Council, Aboriginal Mental Health Service, Yass St Vincent De Paul, Country Women’s Association, Yass and Goulburn Anglicare, Yass Mens Shed

Local Yass Aboriginal Elder Ken Bell conducted our welcome to Country and warmly invited Argyle to the Yass Community.

After the official business (speeches and question time) we were all treated to a beautiful home cooked lunch courtesy of the Country Womens Association consisting of hot soups and sweet treats.  The Country Womens Association are responsible for the day to day running of the Rae Burgess Centre and also hold functions and hire out the hall attached to the centre.

At the end of the day we held a Lucky Door prize open to everyone who attended and this was drawn by Ken Bell our local Aboriginal Elder and won by a local Argyle tenant.
